DINGLE HORSE RIDING

Ireland is famous for the quality of its horses, renowned for their strength, intelligence, and endurance. Test their mettle for yourself with some equestrian pursuits on the Dingle Peninsula. Several stables close to Dingle town are approved by A.I.R.E. (the Association of Irish Riding Stables), and they cater for riders of all abilities and none. The guides can cater for beginners and advanced riders, and they will choose the horse best suited for you.

Saddle Up

Then, when you are paired with the perfect mount, you can head off for a gentle trek on the beach or a more challenging ride in the open countryside. Several stables offer a variety of options, from one-hour mountain treks to an entire week of riding on the stunning Dingle Peninsula. These longer breaks take in six or seven hours on horseback per day, with riders being returned to Dingle town in the evenings.

From Mountain to Shore

Shorter treks head into the hills overlooking the peninsula via quiet country paths through lush fields. More experienced riders will get opportunities to speed up with hilltop canters, but if you are a novice you can relax and enjoy the many photo opportunities.

Muireach beach is a popular destination for riders. Set in a sheltered cove beside a series of promontories called the Three Sisters, this beach is the perfect place for experienced equestrians to gallop along the shore or wade into the Atlantic. Don’t forget your camera!
